High in the hills above Knysna, situated in the heart of South Africa s Garden Route, a beautiful historical working Citrus - & game farm - Portland Manor The Manor House established in 1864 offers guests the opportunity to relax and to be spoiled with fine dining in the exquisite Manor dining room. The eighteen bedroom Lawnwood Lodge is equipped with all the modern amenities and has been designed in keeping with the "Olde Worlde" feeling the rest of the estate projects. The PackHouse Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - a la carte meals of the highest standard, with the old 1860 s Portland Arms English Pub and Sports Bar providing an unique ambience - the perfect setting for a friendly get together

Portland Manor Country Estate nestles in the foothills of the majestic Outeniqua mountains just 15 kms from the holiday town of Knysna.
Established in 1849 the Manor house, Lodge, Restaurant, pub, 7 hectare dam and game camp is surrounded by fruit orchards, indigenous forests and mature gardens. It has been described as 200 hectares of heaven on earth, the perfect country getaway.

Lawn wood Lodge has 19 tastefully decorated rooms including double rooms, which are ideal for small families. Our luxury rooms are spacious and individually furnished and have log burning fireplaces and en-suite facilities, there is also a large lounge area for guests to enjoy. Each room has a television with satellite channels, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Manor house was built during the early 1860’s by an English gentleman named Henry Barrington and still retains its obvious English heritage. There are 8 bedrooms 6 of which are en-suite and 2 sharing.
 There is also a large lounge, dining room, library and bar for our guests to enjoy; all rooms have tea and coffee making facilities.

The Manor house has been furnished with antiques ranging from crystal chandeliers from 1864 (the date the house was finished) through to the 1950’s, in keeping with the property. Enjoy the views onto the stunning
Lawn Wood lake and watch the Zebra and Bontebok running in the game camp below, or wander down to see our famous Hubertha, one of the only hippo’s in the Western Cape.

Our rates start from R 425 per night per person including breakfast, depending on the season.

Directions

Just before Knysna the turn-off to Rheenendal is clearly marked on the left side of the road. After turning right, continue for approximately 7kms until you reach the Portland Manor turn off.
