DescriptionFern Gully is 18kms outside Knysna on the Rheenendal Road to the historical Millwood Goldmine and Jubilee Creek in a rural, plantation forested area. Enjoy the serenity of the country and the bird-life in their natural habitat. Forest walks and horse trails are nearby and the beach is a short drive away.The gully that gave the farm its name runs through the bottom half of the land and the cabins, being built on stilts at the edge of the gorge, give the impression and ambiance of being in the tree tops. They are so positioned as to provide maximum seclusion and privacy and each cabin's deck faces its own view through the trees. ACCOMMODATIONTHE CABINSThe cabins are uniquely different and each one has its own distinct appeal. They are fully furnished and equipped for self-catering in the Garden Route and braai facilities are on the deck. As well as an indoor shower, each cabin has its own outside hot and cold shower. Owl Cabin (sleeps 2): Owl Cabin is fully equipped and furnished for self-catering ease. There is a braai on the deck and a special feature of the cabin is an additional outside hot and cold shower. It is a 2 berth cabin, very popular with honeymooners. Positioned in such a way as to provide optimum privacy and seclusion as possible. Hoopoe Cabin (sleeps 2): More spacious than Owl Cabin, Hoopoe Cabin is decorated in the colours of the beautiful Hoopoe and its outdoor shower has an even more spectacular view of the forest. Coucal Cabin (sleeps 4-6): Coucal Cabin has two double bedrooms, one being a small cosy dormer room upstairs with a large picture window and one twin. It has a spacious living-room and open-plan kitchen and a spacious deck with braai facilities. Ceiling fans cool the rooms in summer. The cabin has a special atmosphere in winter when the trees are dripping with rain and the mists are rolling through the gully. Porcupine Cabin (sleeps 2-4): Porcupine Cabin has an ensuite bedroom and a double sleeper-couch in the sitting-room so can sleep 4 but it is designed as a 2 berth cabin. Fern Cabin Fern Cabin has an ensuite bedroom and a double sleeper couch in a spacious, open plan sitting room with a wrap around deck overlooking a small pond and is surrounded by indigenous bush. Rateschildren policyAll ages welcome but parents should note that the cabins are on stilts with a 2 bar railing around the deck and the bathrooms only have showers, so are perhaps not baby and toddler friendly.
