DescriptionThe building is a National heritage site and was constructed in the 1890's. It was originally built by Olaf Franzen for his son in the "jonckmans huis" style and later sold to Morgan around 1910. It had a loft access and a curved verandah roof with fine fretwork detail.Although extensively renovated and altered, including the addition of a huge deck overlooking the beautiful Knysna lagoon, it still holds some of its original Victorian charm. Part of it's charm lies in the beautifully aged Yellow Wood and Oregon Pine dating back to the days of the original construction of the building. Accommodation We offer two double rooms, one twin room as well as self-catering accommodation in an informal and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is served outside on the patio. All bathrooms are en suite with private entrances and tea/coffee making facilities. A full English breakfast can be provided on request. Televisions can also be provided on request. The self catering accommodation offers a lagoon view. It consists of a separate bedroom, a living room with a kitchenette fitted with a fridge, 2 plate stove, microwave oven, seating at a table for 4 people, a double bed, 2 single beds, TV and a couch. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, basin and toilet. The unit is self contained except for an iron. We have ample parking space and a lovely garden for the use of our guests.

DirectionsWe are located 2 blocks from the very center of Knysna, within one minute walk from restaurants and pubs and a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Knysna waterfront as well as being very close to the bus terminus and 2 blocks away from the main Garden Route that runs from George to Plettenberg Bay. We are also close to the Knysna tourist centre and the tourist information kiosk. Directions from George Finding us is so easy you don't even need a map. From George, take the N2 to Plettenberg Bay. The N2 will take you straight to Main Road and into the center of Knysna. Turn left at the first traffic light.(on the right you will see Absa Bank) Two blocks up the road you will find Bougain -Villa on the corner of Hill Street West and Gray Street with the entrance in Hill Street West. |
